Ann Murphy is our Board Chairperson, assuming this role in October 2017. She has been a contributing member of the SSFS Board for the last 5 years.

Ann moved to Australia from England in 1990. She holds a Bachelor of Nursing from UTS, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Critical Care (College of Nursing), and has worked in Critical Care (ER) units of hospitals for over 15 years. She currently holds the role of Nursing Unit Manager for St.George Public Hospital.

Ann has a unique insight into the many ways that SSFS helps women in the community, and believes her ongoing involvement with the organisation is a way to give back to both SSFS and the community, recognising that there are many women whom without SSFS's help, would be unsupported at one of the most difficult times in their lives. She brings unique empathy and strong values and beliefs about the role SSFS serve.

In Ann's role on the Board, she has represented SSFS at many functions, attended Better Boards Conferences, Strategic planning days, and has supported the CEO in implementing many changes to the organisation for it's ultimate benefit. She uses her people skills and belief in the organisation to ensure it remains client focused, and trauma informed.
